Even though the Preakness Stakes often has the smallest field of the three Triple Crown races, which often leads to shorter odds throughout the field, double-digit longshots have still been successful.

The 2025 Preakness Stakes will take place on Saturday, May 17, at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore. The second leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown, the field for the Preakness will feature nine horses, but it’s one that isn’t in the field making the most noise.

The field is open for a champion of the 150th Preakness Stakes, the middle jewel of the Triple Crown in Baltimore.
