Tornado possibly touches down in parts Tehama and Shasta counties
The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning in the communities of Shingletown, Manton and Paynes Creek.
NWS confirms tornado hit near border of Tehama, Shasta counties
According to the NWS, a brief tornado was located in an unpopulated area of Tehama County just northeast of Dairyville between 5:18 and 5:21 p.m. The tornado traveled for about 0.8 miles. The NWS said there was no damage to the area and there have been no reports of injury.
Possible tornado spotted near border of Tehama, Shasta counties, NWS says
According to the NWS, a possible tornado was located near Paynes Creek, south of Shingletown. As of Friday evening, it was unclear if the funnel reached the ground. By 8:30 p.m., there had been no reports of any damage. The NWS will work with the Tehama County Sheriff's Office to continue to look for any damage in the area.

"At 5:22 p.m., a confirmed tornado was located near Paynes Creek, or 11 miles southwest of Shingletown (Shasta County), moving northeast at 20 mph,” the weather service said. “Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur.”
