An anonymous scout says Boston Red Sox prospect Marcelo Mayer has looked better than Roman Anthony in minor league action.

Monday brought another top prospect rankings update for the Boston Red Sox and the rest of Major League Baseball. MLB Pipeline released their updated Top 100 list, and players who made their debuts on Opening Day and have remained in the big leagues all season officially graduated.

As an outfielder, Anthony faces a logjam for everyday playing time as Jarren Duran, Ceddanne Rafaela, Wilyer Abreau and Rob Refsnyder split time, with Masataka Yoshida hoping to return soon from an injury. And at a shortstop, Mayer would have to compete with highly paid veteran Trevor Story for playing time.
