A United Airlines jet was clipped by another jet while they were taxiing at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said Wednesday. According to an emailed statement from an FAA spokesperson to The Hill,

Hundreds of passengers were moved from their flights at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport Wednesday after an American Airlines plane clipped a United Airlines aircraft.

A plane wheel well is a compartment in the wings or fuselage where the landing gear is stored when not in use. It is a hazardous location for stowaways, who could encounter low oxygen levels, hypothermia, crushing, or the risk of falling during the flight.

"It felt like we hit a pothole. Some people felt it, some didn't. Nonetheless, a few minutes later, the pilot got on the PA and said that we had tail strike," Lewis said.
