The Defense Department added video game maker Tencent Holdings to its "blacklist" of companies doing business in the U.S. while allegedly aiding the Chinese military.

The Department of Defense accused Tencent and EV battery giant CATL of having ties to China's military. Tencent calls the decision "clearly a mistake."

The Defense Department on Monday updated its list of “Chinese military companies operating in the United States,” to include Tencent and key Tesla battery supplier CATL. The list, which now includes 134 companies,
