Android 16 Beta 3 has arrived, bringing with it a handful of useful new features that aim to improve accessibility, make it easier to monitor the longevity of your phone, and keep local networks secure.

Android’s accessibility tools have let you make on-screen text easier to read with options for bold text and high-contrast text. Android 16 Beta 3 is replacing the latter with a new “outline text” mode. This drops a largely opaque background under text for a look that feels a lot like closed captioning, enhancing contrast further still.

One feature I’m particularly excited about with Android 16 is broadcast audio support through Auracast. I experienced a demonstration of the technology a few years back at CES.
