Barkside, the extremely dog and human friendly dog park and beer garden for their handlers is expanding and opening its first suburban location.
Metro Detroit dog lovers will soon have another place to take their pups. A new dog park is set to open in Southfield this summer.
The new location on 11 Mile near Greenfield will have 6,000 square feet of indoor space and a 7,000-square-foot dog-friendly yard.
The new location follows the original location that opened in November 2023 in a 10,000-square-foot space at 7960 Kercheval Ave. in Detroit’s West Village neighborhood. Barkside, billed as Detroit's first dog park and bar, is a venture from Detroit residents David Oh and Cody Williams.
Like the Detroit location, the dog park will include large indoor and outdoor spaces for pups and drinks for humans.
The city is hosting musical performances, panel discussions, storytelling events and more. Many of the events are free.
