It was more than 100 years ago that Shoeless Joe Jackson was among eight Black Sox banned from baseball for throwing the 1919 World Series. It's been more than 35 years since Pete Rose suffered the same fate after betting on the sport as a player and manager of the Cincinnati Reds in the mid-1980s.

Pete Rose was banned from Major League Baseball after he bet on games while he was a manager and player for the Cincinnati Reds. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred reinstated Rose back into the league. Rose died last year and could be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2028.

MLB Rule 21 (d) states: " (2) Any player, umpire, or Club or League official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has a duty to perform,
