Michigan football highly covets UConn transfer wide receiver Skyler Bell, but as it’s still working on him, it’s broadening its base of potential wideouts who could wear the winged helmet next year.

Michigan has signed former Alabama running back Justice Haynes, the No. 1 rated tailback in the transfer portal during this winter cycle. The true sophomore and former five-star prospect is headed to Ann Arbor after two seasons in Tuscaloosa, and will have two seasons of collegiate eligibility remaining with the Maize and Blue.

Michigan football went on a five-day clock following the ReliaQuest Bowl win over Alabama in terms of roster retention. The transfer portal had closed on Dec. 28 but players have until five days after the final game for their respective teams to enter.

Michigan football already has gotten one transfer portal defensive tackle in former Belleville (Mich.) and Alabama DT Damon Payne. The Wolverines are also targeting another Clemson player in wide receiver Tony Stellato.

Michigan added two quarterbacks in the fold after signing five-star freshman Bryce Underwood and veteran Mikey Keene from the transfer portal. Michigan had already signed former Indiana receiver Donaven McCulley and now the Wolverines are looking to add at least one more playmaker.

Defensive lineman Owen Wafle is the latest Michigan player to enter the NCAA transfer portal, a team spokesman confirmed to MLive on Thursday. Wafle, a true freshman, did not appear in any games during the 2024 season. He has four years of college eligibility remaining.
