At least two people were killed and more than a dozen others injured when a Mexican Navy training ship on a goodwill tour struck the underside of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York Saturday night, officials said.

A Mexican Navy training sailing ship crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge on May 17, shearing the top of its masts and causing 19 injuries, authorities said.

There were 277 people on board when the ship drifted directly into the underside of the bridge on Saturday night, the authorities said. At least 22 were injured, half of them critically.
