A 47-year-old man was gored by a bison in Yellowstone National Park, according to park rangers, marking the first reported bison-related injury this year.

Yellowstone National Park has recorded the year’s first violent encounter between a visitor and bison, just weeks into the busy summer season.

Bison are known to defend their space if threatened by people, which has led to other violent incidents in the past. In 2023, another person was injured by a bison in Yellowstone, while a further two were injured last year. This latest case is the first reported in 2025.
